Further Information
One of our most requested hotel chains is Starwood – perhaps not by name, but by one of the myriad of largely luxury brands they own.
You’ll probably know their brands – Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection, the luxury boutique W Hotels brand, St. Regis, Le Méridien and an upcoming range of mid-priced properties such as Aloft, Four Points by Sheraton and the first environmentally friendly chain – Element by Westin.
With 25% of the 1,200 hotels under the Starwood brand being in the United States, they are a great place to explore Travel Industry rates – which fortunately are relative straightforward to find – once you’ve signed up.
Starwood operates a SPG Pro Programme where you are expected to join Starwoods Frequent Traveller Programme. You also (as per most US Centric Programmes) expected to enter an IATA/TIDS/ARC/TRUE/CLIA number. With the majority of these being irrelevant to us in the UK – enter your IATA, or some people have entered that of their Consolidators if they do not have their own. Always carry ID on check-in (business cards / letter of employment on headed notepaper).
After signing up – head to the Pro Learning Section where you must pass the straightforward Loyalty and Brands section – this is essential to get access to StarPro rates.
And it’s well worth it. For example – we found the W Hotel in Leicester Square at a 40% saving.
It should also be mentioned that Starwood also offers a secondary ‘Travel Professional Rate’, but this was vastly inferior in price and availability compared to the Star Pro rates in every case we examined – so we recommend you spend a bit more time going through the Starwood training programme to access the better rates.

Hi Emma, now that Starwood & Marriott have merged, there are major changes afoot for 2019 for Industry Rates. We have been sent details, but they are vast and yet to go live!
If you can log-in at https://www.travelagents.marriott.com/travelagents/signin.mi you should have access to the rates – click on Promotions tab then Travel Industry Rates
We’ll look to update in full when we know the full extent of the changes – hopefully very soon!
